The Plan
Well, we do not have much of a plan, we are more of a spontaneous kind of couple. But we managed to gather a few inspirations a few weeks before our day. So here goes our plans and inspirations:
The Church: Caleruega Chapel of Transfiguration
Sometime last February 2010, Bom and I went to Caleruega just so I can practice my photography skills. We do not expect that it is a chapel famous in marrying couples. That moment we knew, that this is where we want to get married. It is a place for something special, something that needs to be celebrated. The chapel is small, nevertheless, the ceremony is sure to be solemn. This is it!
Food and Reception: Juan Carlo the Caterer and Colossian Gardens
We went through several venues and even reserved the places. But then during our Juan Carlo food tasting, we saw from their photos this venue called Colossian Gardens. We knew we have to visit this place! We did, and you know what, this is it! The place is so inviting, so fresh with green garden. And my worries about the tent? They got it covered, the tent is already up. Apparently, the owner of Juan Carlo and Colossian Gardens is the same. The food is great, by the way. We just love the pink salmon in tequila sauce and I just have to have it on our menu. I hope I can still eat during our wedding day, most couples say they were not able to eat.
Theme and Motif: Japanese-Inspired Wedding with Pink and Green Motif
When we first attended a wedding expo, we were asked what our motif and theme is. Honestly, I do not have any idea what to say. It was only then I realized that weddings nowadays are no longer the traditional wedding that I know of. Immediately I knew that have to get a plan going or we will not be able to enjoy the upcoming momentous day.
Thinking of the theme that we want for the wedding, I knew that I wanted a Japanese-inspired celebration. My fiancé and I both love animés and someday, we both want to see (maybe move to) Japan. My penchant for cherry blossoms also feels like it goes well with the theme. Imagine garden setting with pink everywhere, cherry blossoms all around… It seems like the perfect theme to do. I asked him of his opinion, just as expected he said, “bahala ka, kahit ano”. =)
On the other hand, I prefer it not too Japanese. We have a lot of guests that might not like eating raw sea urchins. So we have to balance the meals and the theme. So the Japanese-theme has to be a little subtle when it comes to food selection.
A Thousand Paper Cranes
The Japanese believed that if the couple makes a thousand paper cranes before the wedding day, it will bring good luck to them for the rest of their married life. And so, we will make a thousand paper cranes for good luck!
The Wedding Cake
The wedding cake should be pink and green and have cherry blossoms all over it. I want cherry blossoms everywhere!
The Gown: Kimono-inspired Wedding Gown
Japanese theme, therefore, kimono. Wrong. Well, maybe a kimono-inspired gown. The plan is to have a simple gown with obi belt, and big ribbon at the back. Not too many frills, not too many ruffles. And a bouquet of tulips in shocking pink! Just a simple gown that will go along with my simple fashion style (do I have any? hehe.. )
The Shoes
I want shoes that will compliment the gown and so I thought the shoes must have a bit of ribbons in it too.
A pair of pink Chucks (my signature shoes) for the reception!
The Suit
My future husband wants a 5-piece tuxedo, care of Von Lazaro as well, on our big day, and the rest of his groomsmen wearing suit and tie. What can I say, I’ll just say yes to the dress…er suit!
The Ladies of the Day
I want my ladies to be pretty in pink so they are going to wear lots of pink, the flower girls are going to be in light green dresses with pink ribbons. They can choose any style they want, so they can wear something that they are comfortable with. As a way of incorporating green into their outfits, their flowers are going to be in green.
The Flower Girls
Our little angels are going to be in white dresses with green ribbons. I love little girls dresses in white dresses, they just look so happy and innocent.
Okay, I changed my mind. The little girls are not going to wear white dresses, but they will be in pink yukata! I want them to be Japanese-y, with their tabi socks and all.
Inspiration Boards
I made these inspiration boards, basically they are compilations of photos I gathered from the net, so we can get a feel of what we are trying to achieve on our wedding day. Obviously, these are not done in a very art-sy way that I can, but hey, I gave it my best. =)
